Urge your senators to pass the Build Back Better Act

Democratic leaders in Washington have reached an agreement on the final framework for President Biden’s Build Back Better Act.

While this bill is far less ambitious than what President Biden originally proposed, this framework is much better than the alternative of continued inaction, hardship, and lost opportunity for millions of struggling Americans.

Although Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema cut major parts of President Biden’s policy agenda at the behest of corporate interests, it was pressure from grassroots activists like you that managed to secure wins on several major priorities, including:

  • The largest investment in climate action in history, with $555 billion to decarbonize and promote clean energy
  • Universal pre-K and new investments to ensure affordable child care and home care for parents and caregivers
  • An expansion of affordable health care to lower premiums and close the Medicaid coverage gap
  • New investments in access to higher education, including at Historically Black Colleges & Universities, minority-serving institutions, and Tribal Colleges & Universities
  • An extension of the Child Tax Credit for an additional year
  • Immigration relief to keep families together and make the system more humane
  • Unprecedented funding for affordable housing and rental assistance

Though we must continue to push for progress on what was left out of this deal, we can’t let this moment pass us by. It’s time to reject an economy that serves big corporations and the elite and finally give working families a fair shot.

Urge your senators to pass the Build Back Better Act and recommit to fulfilling the promises they made to inspire millions of young people to join our democratic process in 2020.
