Maine Primary Election Guide


The Maine Presidential Primary Election is March 3.

A new addition to the NextGen program, NextGen Maine aims to secure all four of Maine’s Electoral College votes for the Democratic presidential nominee.

The initial deadline to register to vote for the primary is February 11, but Maine also offers same-day registration on the presidential primary election day. Simply show up at your polling place on March 3 to register to vote! Learn more about how to register here.

In-person absentee voting runs February 2 through March 2. To request an absentee ballot by mail, you must submit your request by February 27.

First time voters or voters with incomplete registration may be requested to show valid ID, such as:

  • Document showing Proof of Address
  • Current and Valid Photo ID
