In response to the one year anniversary of the the historic passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:
“Today young people are coming together to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, a landmark piece of legislation from President Biden and Congressional Democrats that created a historic and ambitious investment in our climate and a clean energy plan. The Inflation Reduction Act is one of the most successful pieces of legislation in history, and without the relentless organizing efforts of young people to make sure that climate remains a priority, we would not have seen this policy enacted into law.
“Democrats took on Big Oil and passed a real plan to create a greener future for young people across the country. The Inflation Reduction Act not only builds a greener future, it also builds a more prosperous one. Since its passage, businesses have announced more than 270 new clean energy projects in the last year, creating over 170,600 jobs, and totaling over $278 billion in new investments for local economies.
“President Biden and Democrats are offering solutions and delivering results, while MAGA Republicans are set on making climate change even worse, raising costs on goods, and killing jobs. The Inflation Reduction Act is a major win for the youth agenda, as climate is a key voting motivator for young people, but we’re not stopping here. Young voters across the country are paying attention to which leaders listen to us and represent our vision for the future, and NextGen America will continue to educate, engage, and mobilize young voters to fight for this future we believe in.”
