Tell President Biden: Cancel Federal Student Loan Debt

On the campaign trail, Joe Biden promised to improve access to a quality education and lessen the financial burden of student loan debt on millions of people in the United States.

And now, thanks to pressure from activists and organizers such as yourself, President Biden has extended the student loan payment pause until May 1, 2022. But we can’t stop here.

Excessive debt from seeking higher education impacts millions of recent graduates, older millennials, and middle-aged people. This debt takes away from our ability to pay for food, housing, health care, and to start saving for our future. Furthermore, the student debt crisis is a racial and gender issue, as this debt disproportionately is held by Black and brown Americans as well as women.

Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren have already called on President Biden to eliminate $50,000 in student debt. Though NextGen America will work tirelessly to eliminate all federal student loan debt in the United States, we believe this would be a great start.

President Biden listened to all of us and extended the payment pause to May 1, 2022. Now, write to President Biden and urge him to quickly take executive action to eliminate all federal student loan debt.
