The Department of Education plays a critical role in ensuring 49.6 million public school students get a quality education. Pathways out of poverty and to success have been made possible because of American public education. The Department of Education has made so much possible, including:

• Protections for students from discrimination
• Funding for schools in low-income areas
• Pell Grants that help students afford college
• Collecting and reporting data to make public education even better

Now Trump wants to end it all with the stroke of a pen. And even worse, he won’t stop there.
