Hello! I’m Salma Teran, a graphic and brand designer based in Austin, Texas, interested in cultivating a sense of community through illustrative and vibrant imagery. I utilize digital and traditional mediums to create stylized graphics that encourage appreciation for one’s self-identity and advocate for the rights of individuals and the environment.
As I continue to pursue my bachelor’s degree in Design at the University of Texas at Austin, I am still discovering my artistic style and developing my skills as a graphic artist. My work is characterized by my identity as a Hispanic woman and the southwestern culture I grew up with living in the border city of El Paso, Texas.
When I am not designing, I am engaging with my love for cats, video games, pop culture, and animated media, all of which influence and inspire my creativity.
Salma designed a sticker and poster series for the Hot Girls Vote campaign. The sticker series offers playful, engaging designs to inspire and connect with young voters. The poster features a girl with headphones, tuned into key issues with the message: “I’m tuned into Reproductive Rights, Economic Justice, and Workers’ Rights.” Salma’s work encourages civic engagement, blending youthful energy with organizing to empower voters to make their voices heard.
Salma created a poster series exploring the intersection of migration—both human and animal—and climate justice. The series depicts a woman with her child crossing a river, alongside wildlife native to her border city, El Paso, highlighting how walls and barriers affect mobility for all. Through this artwork, Salma emphasizes the interconnectedness of environmental and immigration issues, urging viewers to consider how borders impact both people and ecosystems.
