In 2022, 27 states have no nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ people. 28 states have introduced anti-LGBTQ+ bills. Eight states have signed anti-LGBTQ+ bills into law.
But with more and more hateful and discriminatory bills being introduced in state legislatures every day, it’s crystal clear that federal protections for the community are urgent and necessary to combat state-level violence.
We’re calling for federal protections for all LGBTQ+ people in housing, health care, education, and public accommodations across the country by passing the Equality Act.
The health and safety of the LGBTQ+ community is constantly under threat, thanks to bigoted politicians and federal judges who refuse to protect this vulnerable community.
The Equality Act would provide comprehensive protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity nationwide, essentially carving out LGBTQ+ protections into existing civil rights law.
The Equality Act isn’t new to Congress. Now it’s time to make sure it passes both chambers and gets signed into law once and for all.
Send a message to your representatives and senators to ensure that those who seek to freely love who they love and be who they want to be are not subject to violence and discrimination.
