America’s Youth Respond to First Presidential Debate

In response to the first presidential debate of the 2024 election between incumbent President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, NextGen PAC President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:

“We knew the stakes heading into tonight’s debate, and what’s been made clear tonight is the glaring difference between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump’s visions for our future. We heard Trump spew nothing but dangerous lies and revisionist history while Biden defined a clear stance on corporate greed, abortion rights, and climate justice. President Biden emphasized a commitment to protecting rights and strengthening democracy. In contrast, Donald Trump resurfaced with a regressive MAGA agenda aimed at stripping away freedoms and protecting the elite.

“In Trump’s chilling revival of the MAGA agenda tonight, we saw a clear blueprint for a future that threatens our fundamental rights and entrenches inequality. MAGA Republicans seek unchecked power, aiming to dismantle reproductive rights, attack immigrant rights, undermine healthcare access, and perpetuate economic disparities favoring the wealthy. Their Project 2025 agenda is a direct assault on the freedoms and opportunities that young Americans deserve. Tonight’s debate illuminated the stark reality of what another Trump term could mean: a country where personal liberties are sacrificed for the benefit of a privileged few, and where democracy itself hangs in the balance.
