NextGen America Celebrates Earth Day With Week-Long Education and Advocacy Campaign

The youth vote org is directing young people to stand up for climate action

Washington, D.C. — This week NextGen America, one of the nation’s leading youth vote organizations, is celebrating Earth Day with a week of education and advocacy focused on addressing the climate crisis. The campaign, called Green Week, will feature online educational series, on-the-ground organizing, and calls, texts, and emails encouraging young people to take action.

NextGen America’s Green Week activities are featured on an online action hub which encourages young people to voice support for climate legislation and climate action. The hub also directs people to join a workshop on digital organizing, an education session on the harmful climate policies of the Trump Administration, and a podcast listening and discussion session.

NextGen America Statement:

“NextGen is proud to celebrate Earth Day and support young people in taking action to protect our planet and our futures. We are experiencing an unrelenting attack on our climate, and in order to protect our freedom to breathe clean air and drink clean water we all need to step up, organize, and use our voice. Young people refuse to let corporations and billionaires poison our planet to pad their pockets and we are determined to leave a better life for our siblings, children, grandchildren, and future generations.”

On the ground, NextGen America field organizers will be collecting issue surveys from young people during climate events at Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, and Virginia State University to learn their top priorities for the year ahead among other in-person events across the country. NextGen is also co-sponsoring a climate call on Thursday, April 24 with partners Climate Action Campaign, Sunrise Movement, and others to discuss the impacts of the Trump Administration on the climate crisis.

NextGen’s Green Week campaign is a part of their 2025 youth-vote education and mobilization efforts that includes in-person and online organizing.
