NextGen America Celebrates National Voter Registration Day with Events Nationwide

Youth vote org hosts dozens of events nationwide to educate young people on the power of their vote

Washington, DC — Today, NextGen America is celebrating National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) by connecting with young people across the country and registering and pledging them to vote. NextGen is contacting hundreds of young voters in a single day through in-person events and digital activations.

NextGen’s in-person events are happening on college campuses in Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia and include free swag giveaways, food, and music. In Virginia, NextGen is hosting a block party at Virginia Tech in partnership with Hokies Vote, VT Engage, Reproductive Freedom for All, and League of Women Voters. The block party will help educate students on the importance of making their voice heard by voting.

“We are excited to celebrate NVRD by connecting with young people across the country and educating them on the power of their vote,” said Victoria Yang, Interim President of NextGen America. “It can be easy to dismiss the importance of youth voter education and empowerment during an electoral off-year, but we know our movement for change requires consistent engagement and outreach. This National Voter Registration Day, we’re meeting young people where they’re at and helping them to see the importance of showing up to vote in their local communities year-round.”

To complement NextGen’s on-the-ground mobilization efforts, NextGen’s distributed team is encouraging volunteers to share online actions supporting voter registration and education. Together, NextGen America’s 2025 NVRD efforts are focused on educating and empowering young people nationwide to build youth power not just in one election year, but for the future.
