NextGen America Celebrates Twelve Years of Empowering Young Voters

NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:

“Today, NextGen America is celebrating its twelve year anniversary, marking more than a decade of education, activism, and building youth engagement in our democracy. In 2013, NextGen America started mobilizing young people on climate justice, one of the most salient and important issues of our time. Now, years later, the work has expanded to include other causes that ignite the largest and most diverse generation in American history – like economic justice and equal rights.

“Throughout NextGen’s lifetime, the organization has established itself as the home of the youth vote, registering over 1.6 million voters and contacting millions more. As organizers on the ground and online have built the organization’s reach over the years, one thing is abundantly clear – young people are the future of our civic landscape and are determined to create a better, more just world. In twelve years, NextGen America’s work has helped to transform our democracy, delivering record levels of youth participation in recent elections. As we look ahead, we know our work is far from over, and we remain grounded in our efforts to build a more representative democracy and create a government that works for all.”
