Washington, D.C. – NextGen America is proud to announce it’s partnership with #iVoted Concerts and Calling All Crows for their first show of the electoral season. Fans can score a free ticket to An Evening with CAKE at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas on election night, November 5th, by checking their voter registration status or signing up for election alerts with HeadCount. In addition, attendees will gain access to Calling All Crow’s civic engagement platform that provides fans with party-neutral information about local and state ballot initiatives so they are well-informed on election issues.
“NextGen America is proud to partner with #iVoted Concerts and Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas to host this exciting youth voter concert event,” NextGen America President and Executive Director Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez said. “Connecting pop culture and art to the issues that impact young people’s everyday lives is a powerful way to make our democracy stronger. NextGen is excited about this partnership which helps us meet young people where they’re at and ensures they have the tools they need to cast their ballot.”
CAKE frontman John McCrea says, “We are super happy to be part of the push to get Nevada voting at full capacity. Stakes are so high; let’s make it happen.” #iVoted Concerts CEO Emily White added, “We couldn’t be more excited to kick off #iVoted’s free Fall concert series with one of our favorite bands and champions of democracy–the incredible CAKE!”
The Sacramento, CA based band’s adherence to their earliest guiding principles has only grown stronger over the years. Originally formed as a somewhat antagonistic answer to grunge, CAKE’s democratic processes, defiant self-reliance, and lucid yet ever-inventive music has made them a nation-state unto themselves, with no evident peers in sound or perspective. In addition to writing, arranging, producing, and performing their music in their Sacramento-based solar-powered studio, which regularly generates more power than is needed to run it, causing the building’s electrical meter to run in reverse.
Legendary concert promoter and Brooklyn Bowl owner Peter Shapiro said, “We are honored to host CAKE on this immensely important night for America at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. Wow, what a huge night this is going to be and to experience it live in real time at a show in the heart of Vegas is going to be EPIC.”
CAKE’s most recent album, Showroom of Compassion, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and was touted as “deadpan brilliance” by The New Yorker Magazine. While seamlessly blending multiple genres and influences, CAKE truly issues forth a sound and vision unlike any other band. The band is currently at work on their ninth album due for release in 2025.
Calling All Crows (CAC) is also partnering on the show with CAC’s Executive Director Heatherjean MacNeil adding, “Calling All Crows is thrilled to join forces with CAKE, #iVoted Concerts and NextGen America to drive voter engagement during this critical election year.” Civic engagement in Nevada is a priority for CAC’s Voice Your Choice campaign, which educates music fans on issues of reproductive freedom, particularly in states with abortion is on the ballot.
