Youth voting organization engages young voters ahead of the crucial November elections
Washington, DC — Today, NextGen America kicked off Welcome Week on over 100 colleges across the country, registering students to vote as they reconvene on campuses during the months of August and September. Spanning eight pivotal states — Arizona, Michigan, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia— NextGen’s dynamic team of almost 200 field organizers will connect with and empower young voters with essential resources and knowledge they need as they gear up for the November elections.
Throughout the course of Welcome Week, NextGen America organizers and volunteers will spearhead a series of high-energy voter registration events on prominent campuses, including the University of Arizona, University of Michigan, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, among others. These events are meticulously designed to forge connections with incoming students and to provide vital local voting information to ensure they are informed and engaged participants in the democratic process.
“We’re thrilled to be back on campuses, where we’ll connect with thousands of young people ready to make their mark on history,” Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez, President of NextGen America said. “From Arizona to North Carolina, our mission is clear – empower students with the knowledge and tools they need to shape the future. This year, we’re not just encouraging participation, we’re celebrating the unstoppable energy and potential of a new generation of voters ready to lead and drive change from the local to the national stage!”
NextGen America’s 2024 Welcome Week initiative builds on a legacy of success, designed to educate, mobilize, and register young voters, further enhancing the democratic engagement of this critical voting bloc. As the nation’s leading force in youth civic participation, NextGen is proud to organize across the country and is committed to championing a democracy that truly reflects and represents the diverse voices of young people across the country.
