NextGen America Launches Website to Connect Young Voters with IRA Benefits and Information

The education campaign, ‘Ignite the Future,’ will connect young people with resources for climate action

Washington, D.C. — Today, NextGen America announced the launch of its Ignite the Future website, an educational platform that will help young voters learn about the impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and how they can benefit from this historic legislation. The website features links to clean-energy job boards, resources to discover affordable solar panels, heat pumps, and electric vehicles, and also urges users to continue pushing for climate action by writing and calling their representatives.

“By passing the Inflation Reduction Act last year, President Biden and Congress delivered historic climate action that is changing lives,” NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzun Ramirez said. “Young people are fiercely passionate about building a sustainable future, and NextGen America is proud to help amplify the benefits of the IRA and inform young people on the benefits and impacts this legislation can have in their daily lives. By connecting the power of their vote to real-life action, young people are seeing the power of their voice and the impacts it can have on their planet, their pocket book, and why their voices matter.”

The Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law in August 2022 and put our nation on the path to cutting pollution by 40% by 2030, creating millions of good-paying clean energy jobs, investing in environmental justice, and reducing energy bills for working families across the country. The IRA is one of the most successful pieces of climate legislation in history, and without the relentless organizing efforts of young people to make sure that climate remains a priority, we would not have seen this policy enacted into law.

In 2020, young voters turned out at unprecedented levels hoping to see their leaders enact powerful climate legislation, and by passing of the IRA, the Biden Administration delivered on that urgent call. As young people continue to push for climate action, NextGen America is committed to helping them find their voice and build a future they believe in.

Leading up to 2024, NextGen aims to contact millions of young voters to build on the momentum of young people eager to participate in our democracy and build a government that works for all of us.
