NextGen America Releases “Enough is Enough” Platform to Combat Sexual Misconduct

Announces support for ongoing efforts, sends message to politicians and public officials

SAN FRANCISCO — Today, NextGen America released a new platform outlining tenets the organization will uphold to combat sexual harassment across the country. NextGen America’s “Enough is Enough” platform demands action from those in power to hold abusers accountable and supports ongoing efforts to destroy the culture of sexual harassment in politics.

“It’s on all of us to start building a society where each and every person feels free from the threat of objectification, harm, or sometimes worse. Our elected officials should be held to the highest standards, and President Trump is no different. If elected officials cannot get behind the values of this platform, they have no place in our government,” said NextGen America President Tom Steyer. “Women are leading the charge and we’re committed to doing everything we can to support their efforts to destroy the culture of sexual harassment in politics and build a more inclusive society. ”

In the platform, NextGen America also stated that it will only endorse candidates who support the values underlined in this platform. The full platform is below:


Enough is Enough” Platform:
NextGen America is fighting for a free and equal society regardless of gender, sex, race, class, ability, or naturalization status. The following platform is a tool that can be used to abate the abuse of power.

  • NextGen America is committed to supporting progressives who abide by and support this “Enough is Enough” platform and will not support any candidate or public official, regardless of party affiliation, who does not embody this platform.
  • We are committed to supporting the effort of electing more women candidates on the local, state, and federal level.
  • We take an unequivocal stance against sexual misconduct in every aspect of our  government, business, media, and communities.
  • We demand that institutions and bystanders protect against retaliation towards women and others who come forward about abuse.
  • We support candidates and policies that take seriously women’s rights to control their own bodies.
  • We are committed to supporting the work of the California Women’s Caucus and the states of Minnesota, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, and Florida who are actively working to destroy the culture of sexual harassment in politics, and we strongly encourage other state legislative bodies to follow suit.
  • We support the 59 Democratic women lawmakers standing up to accused sexual harasser Donald Trump—and we are calling for his immediate resignation.
  • We support the ENOUGH Act of 2017 and other legislation to combat sexual misconduct in the workplace and in government.
  • We encourage abusers to come forward and be held accountable for their actions in the spirit of truth and reconciliation.
  • We support women’s efforts to organize during this pivotal time.
