In response to President Trump signing the “Big Beautiful Bill” into law, NextGen America Interim President Victoria Yang released the following statement:
“Later today, President Trump will sign his awful budget into law adding over three trillion dollars to the national debt in order to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. This bill robs young people of their futures and will devastate our families and communities for generations to come. Donald Trump and the Republican Congress are ripping apart essential programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and Pell Grants in order for billionaires like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg to receive massive tax breaks. While billionaires celebrate, a generation already struggling with the cost of living is being told to foot the bill for policies that undermine their future.
“Make no mistake – people will die because of the choices Republicans made in this bill. Trump ran on the promise of making America better, but instead he is destroying it piece by piece. This bill is a massive redistribution of wealth that benefits the ultra-wealthy while destroying our healthcare, our environment, and our education.
“As NextGen America looks ahead to our work in 2026, we are committed to organizing across the country to ensure Republicans who voted for this bill are held accountable. Young people want leaders who fight for us, not leaders who roll over when donors come calling. It is not patriotic to betray working class people. Our country was founded on the belief that the Government should be of the people, by the people, and for the people – and young people won’t stop fighting until we see this represented in our lives.”
