Statement from Tom Steyer on President-Elect Donald Trump’s Labor Secretary Appointment

Today, President-Elect Donald Trump announced that he will appoint Andrew Puzder as Labor Secretary. In response, NextGen Climate President Tom Steyer issued the following statement: 

“Today, Donald Trump delivered a punch to the gut of American workers and the Labor Movement with the nomination of Andrew Puzder as Labor Secretary. Americans need someone in their corner fighting for a living wage and paid family leave, but instead Trump chose to nominate a Labor Secretary who has actively worked to undermine the most fundamental workers’ rights, including increasing the minimum wage and overtime eligibility. The Senate must reject this nomination, and stand up for a country that works for all Americans–not just those at the top.”
