Statement from Tom Steyer on President-Elect Donald Trump’s Secretary of State Nomination

President-Elect Donald Trump is expected to nominate Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson as his Secretary of State. In response, NextGen Climate President Tom Steyer issued the following statement: 

“Today’s nomination of Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State completes the takeover of our democracy by Big Oil, Wall Street and the Far Right. Mr. Tillerson manages to embody them all. The Senate must now fight to protect American values by defeating this nomination. The world is watching.”
