On Monday, Stanford University announced it will not divest from fossil fuels. Below is a statement from NextGen Climate President Tom Steyer on the decision:
“I strongly disagree with Stanford’s decision not to divest from fossil fuels. Climate change is truly the challenge of our generation, which is why I have long publicly supported divestment from fossil fuels and continue to do so. After a thorough and exhaustive process, the Stanford Board of Trustees ultimately decided not to divest at this time. I remain confident that Stanford will continue to push to accelerate our transition to a clean energy economy.”
