Student Leaders Celebrate Welcome Week On Campuses Nationwide with Voter Registration Events

Students will help peers register to vote as they move back on campus

Washington, DC — NextGen America kicked off Welcome Week today on 16 college campuses in seven states across the country. NextGen America is educating students on the upcoming midterm elections and registering them to vote to celebrate students reconvening on campus during the months of August and September.

Throughout Welcome Week, NextGen America’s student leaders will host voter registration events on college campuses, including the University of Michigan, North Carolina AT & T, and Pennsylvania State University, among others. Across multiple campuses, NextGen’s student club will host a “Make Your Mark: Create a Tote & Register to Vote” event, where participants use stencils to spray paint tote bags as they register to vote on campus.

“As students return to campus this fall, we are excited to uplift and support their work to create positive change in their communities,” Arianna Jones, Executive Director of NextGen America, said. “Young people are informed, engaged, and passionate about the issues impacting them every day, and our student leaders are helping them to take action. NextGen club leaders are excited to build a campus ecosystem of civic engagement, and they know it starts with engaging their peers.”

NextGen America’s 2026 Welcome Week is focused on educating and empowering young people nationwide to build youth civic power. As the fall semester continues, NextGen America’s student leaders will be hosting voter education events, issue-education sessions, and voter registration drives, among other civic and community engagement activities.
