In response to Senate Republicans moving forward with Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” NextGen America Interim President Victoria Yang released the following statement:
“Senate Republicans just passed the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” and young people will be the ones paying the price for decades to come. Septuagenarians in the Senate are adding more than three trillion dollars to the deficit to pay for tax cuts for billionaires – and it’s all at the expense of young people’s futures. Young people are already struggling to afford rent, health care, and student loans. Now they’re being told to bankroll tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. That’s not policy, that’s robbery.
“Trump and Republican’s Big Beautiful Bill deepens inequality and makes working class people’s lives more expensive. Republicans are choosing to gut Medicaid, fund ICE, and drive up electricity and grocery costs – locking us all into a future where billionaires get breaks while the rest of us get the bill.
“Our recent poll with Tulchin Research showed that young people overwhelmingly disapprove of the spending cuts in this bill. We’ve seen what’s possible when young people show up, just look at New York City. They voted, and they changed the odds. Now, with everything on the line, we need that same energy across the country.
“At NextGen, our job is to empower young people to fight for a government that listens to them, represents them, and works for them. This fight isn’t just for young people—it’s for everyone who will be harmed by this bill. But it starts with their voices. And we’re here to make sure they’re heard.”
