Young Voters Respond to Biden-Harris Administration Creating Office for Gun Violence Prevention

In response to the Biden-Harris Administration creating an office for gun violence prevention, NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:

“Young voters across the country applaud the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic action to prevent gun violence in our communities with the creation of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Every person in America deserves to feel safe in their classrooms, workplaces, and neighborhoods, and this action is a critical step towards building a better future for all.

“Firearms are the leading cause of death for children in the United States, and it is undoubtedly clear that the President’s actions today will save lives. By launching this office, President Biden is showing he is listening to the youth movement and acting on the issues most important to us. As young voters look to the future, we know this is not the end of our fight for change, and we call upon Congress to act and pass universal background checks and an assault weapon ban through legislative action. Acting on gun violence prevention is the morally right thing to do, and it will help win the youth vote in 2024.”
