NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:
“Chris Wright is a multimillionaire fossil fuel CEO who donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Trump’s campaign to buy the Energy Secretary role. Nominating climate-denier Chris Wright to this position is a disgrace to young people across the country who overwhelmingly believe in climate change and want to protect the future of our planet. If appointed Energy Secretary, Chris Wright will only double-down on harmful and archaic energy sources like oil, coal, and gas. As the fires in Los Angeles continue to devastate the people of California, we must reject Big Oil and Gas and hold them accountable for their role in the climate crisis, not promote them to roles of power in politics.
“Trump’s cabinet appointees are not going to fight for working class people and our planet, they only want to line their pockets and rig the economy against us. Young people stand united in our call for a government that represents and fights for everyday people, not the ultra-wealthy few.”
