Young Voters Respond to SCOTUS Protecting Access to Mifepristone

In response to the Supreme Court rejecting bid to restrict access to abortion pill, NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:

“Today’s Supreme Court decision protecting mifepristone, a form of essential healthcare, is a win for young voters across the country. This ruling underscores that mifepristone is safe and effective, allowing people the freedom to make their own healthcare decisions. While it’s clear this case should have never made it to the courts to begin with, this is a significant victory for abortion rights and fundamental healthcare access nationwide. Today’s ruling protects mifepristone access for now, but this case is still in play due to challenges from three Republican state attorneys general, with potential for the Supreme Court to intervene in the future.

“As we look ahead to November, we know the fight for access to contraception, abortion, and basic life-saving healthcare is not going away. Attacks on abortion are strictly politically motivated, without standing in science or research, and are widely unpopular among Americans nationwide. NextGen is committed to continuing our work educating, organizing, and mobilizing young people to turnout to protect our essential rights like access to contraception and abortion care. Abortion is on the ballot this fall – and we will never stop fighting to make sure all people have access to the essential health care that they need.”
