NextGen America registered over 130,000 young people this cycle
Washington, D.C. – As the polls close on Election Day, NextGen America played a critical role in empowering young voters to show up and use their voice to shape our democracy. For over a decade, NextGen America has fueled the youth movement, providing the tools and resources for young people to channel their collective power into advocacy for a brighter future.
“Young people will decide this election. From local ballot initiatives to federal races, we know this critical bloc is showing up for their futures and making their voices heard.” NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez said. “We are proud of our work this cycle on-the-ground and online to educate, mobilize, and empower young voters, contributing to a culture of civic engagement that will extend beyond this election. Young people are showing up, turning out, and using their collective power to elect leaders that represent our values – today and into the future.”
2024: BY THE NUMBERS
This election cycle, NextGen America mobilized an extensive grassroots network to energize, educate, and engage young voters across the country. This organizing included outreach on college campuses, voter education in collaboration with college and professional athletes in partnership with House Majority Forward, and working with Twitch streamers in partnership with Fohr to integrateNextGen’s Discord AI chatbot, VOTE-E, into their Discords, among other youth voter education initiatives.
With 40.8 million Gen Z voters (ages 18-27) eligible to participate in 2024— 8.3 million of whom are newly eligible since the 2022 midterms—this generation holds the power to shape the future of our country. Young voters represent nearly one-fifth of the electorate, and their participation today will have a lasting impact. NextGen America is urging every young person to seize this opportunity to embrace their power and take ownership of their future by casting their votes.
