In order to vote, you must be:

<li style="font-weight: 400">A citizen of the United States </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">At least 18 years old on or before Election Day</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Not currently serving a sentence including incarceration, parole, probation, or extended supervision for a felony conviction</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Have resided at the address provided for at least 28 consecutive days prior to the election</li>
</ul>

You must provide a Proof of Residence document (hard copy, paper document, or electronic copy)that proves where you live in Wisconsin when registering to vote. It must include the voter’s name and current residential address.

<li style="font-weight: 400">The deadline to register by mail is March 15</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Registration forms must be printed, signed, and mailed or delivered to your municipal clerk, and can use any of the forms of Proof of residence except a residential lease</li>

Voters with a valid WI Driver’s License or other WI DMV-issued ID can <a href="https://myvote.wi.gov/Register-To-Vote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">register to vote online through March 15.</a>
To register online you must enter your name, date of birth, Driver&#8217;s License or ID number, and an address that matches what’s on file at the DMV.

Registration is available at your polling place on Election Day, April 4 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. <a href="https://myvote.wi.gov/Find-My-Polling-Place" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Find information on your polling place.</a>
You must provide a Proof of Residence document when registering to vote.

Wisconsin voters must reside at their address for at least 28 days by Election Day in order to register to vote. 
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Voters who have moved within Wisconsin less than 28 days before the election must vote from their previous address by absentee ballot or at the polling place. </li>
</ul>
Voters who have moved to Wisconsin from another state less than 28 days before an election are only eligible to vote in Presidential elections.

If you have been issued a Wisconsin Driver&#8217;s License or ID card that is current and valid, you must provide the number and expiration date when registering to vote.
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">If the license or ID is canceled or expired, provide the number and the last four digits of your Social Security number. </li>
</ul>
If you have not been issued a WI license or ID, provide the last four digits of your Social Security number. 
If you have none of these, you will be able to indicate that fact.

In Wisconsin, people convicted of a felony become eligible to vote again only when they complete the terms of their sentence, including any term of probation or extended supervision. Voting rights are also restored if you are pardoned.
Anyone convicted of a felony who has not yet completed the terms of their sentence, including probation, incarceration, and supervision, is ineligible to vote.
If you are convicted of a misdemeanor, not a felony, you are eligible to vote.

Students have the right to vote in Wisconsin if they have resided in a ward for at least 28 days, are U.S. citizens, are at least 18 years old on or before Election Day, and are not otherwise disqualified.
A student who has registered to vote at a campus address and continues to live there must vote from that location. A student who has registered to vote at a home address and lives on campus may vote from the home address or may register and vote from the campus address.

Voter Registration

You must show a photo ID when voting in person in Wisconsin. A few forms of acceptable ID that can be expired or unexpired include: 
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">a Wisconsin DOT driver&#8217;s license, or other WI DOT-issued ID </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">a military ID</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">a U.S. Passport </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">an ID card issued by a federally recognized Indian tribe in WI</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">a student ID issued by an accredited university/college that includes the date of issuance, the signature of the student, and an expiration date no later than two years after the date of issuance</li>
</ul>
Acceptable unexpired IDs include: 
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A veteran’s photo ID issued by the Veterans Health Administration</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A certificate of naturalization issued not more than 2 years before Election Day</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A driving receipt issued by WI DOT</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">An ID card receipt issued by WI DOT </li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">A temporary ID card issued by WI DOT through the Identification Petition Process (IDPP)</li>

<td>Early voting, also known as in-person absentee voting, takes place at your municipal clerk’s office. This process involves requesting and voting an absentee ballot in-person at the office. 
The in-person absentee period is March 21 &#8211; April 4, but dates and hours vary by municipality.

Residents vote in the district in which they live and must cast their ballot at their designated polling location.

Early Voting takes place at your municipal clerk’s office, and Election Day voting sites are assigned to your address.

All polling places must have accessible voting machines available for use at the polling place on Election Day. 
Curbside Voting: If a voter cannot enter the absentee voting location or polling place due to disability, curbside voting must be available. These voters are not required to sign the poll list.
Absentee Voting: All Wisconsin voters are eligible to request a by-mail absentee ballot for any reason. Voters may also indicate indefinitely confined status, due to age, illness, infirmity, or disability and receive ballots for every election until they fail to return a ballot or indicate a change in status. 
<ul>
<li>Absentee ballot delivery: Voters with a disability or who have been hospitalized can have their ballot delivered for them by a person of their choosing other than the voter’s employer or agent of that employer or officer or agent of the voter’s union.</li>
</ul>
Ballot-marking assistance: If you need help marking your ballot on Election Day, you may take anyone you choose with you into the voting booth, except your employer or labor union representative. Voters receiving assistance while absentee voting must have the assistor sign the absentee certificate envelope. All voters must also obtain a witness for their voting process who signs the absentee certificate envelope and provides their address. The assistor may also serve as the witness.
Assistance with equipment: You can request help with the accessible voting equipment. Anyone who helps you with a direct-recording electronic accessible voting machine (Edge, iVotronic, Populex, or Accuvote) should position themselves behind the machine so that they cannot see how you vote. They are allowed to explain how the equipment works but cannot assist you with making your ballot choices.

In-Person Voting

Any registered Wisconsin voter can request an absentee ballot.

Wisconsin voters may <a href="https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Vote-Absentee-By-Mail" target="_blank" rel="noopener">request an absentee ballot</a> online.

You must have a witness who is an adult U.S. citizen and not a candidate in the upcoming election verifies that you filled out your own ballot.
Fill out your ballot carefully. Once your ballot is complete, place it in the certified envelope. Then seal and sign the certificate envelope, and make sure your witness adds their address and signature, too.

There are multiple ways to return an absentee ballot in Wisconsin:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400">Mail the ballot back using the pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope included with the ballot packet. USPS recommends mailing your ballot back at least 7 days before Election Day. Once the ballot is in the mail, you may not vote in person at the polls.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400">In person at the clerk’s office prior to Election Day</li>
</ul>
At the polling place or central count location on Election Day. Not every polling location will accept an absentee ballot on Election Day. <a href="https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/My-Municipal-Clerk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Voters should check with their municipality for their Election Day ballot return location as it varies by municipality.</a>

Voters must return their absentee ballot by mail or in person. Your ballot must be received no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day, Arpil 4, 2023.

Voters who requested an absentee ballot, but decide they want to vote in person may do so, as long as they have not already sent in their absentee ballot.

<li style="font-weight: 400">Do not give your unused ballot to anyone.</li>

If you are a military or overseas voter, <a href="https://myvote.wi.gov/Military-Overseas-Voters" target="_blank" rel="noopener">you are eligible to receive your absentee ballot electronically</a>, including online. 
Military Voting &#8211; Members of the military do not need to register to vote. However, to vote absentee using MyVote, they need to complete a form on the site prior to voting. Members of the U.S. Military or a spouse or dependent of a member are eligible to receive an absentee ballot online, by email, by fax or mailed until 5 p.m. on Election Day.
Permanent Overseas Voters &#8211; If you are a first time voter, you must first register to vote. You will not be required to provide proof of residence with your registration. If you already registered to vote in Wisconsin, you can request an absentee ballot online, by email, by fax or mailed to your overseas address.
Temporarily Overseas Voters &#8211; Wisconsin residents overseas on Election Day can request an absentee ballot be emailed or mailed to the address where they are staying in another country. Before an absentee request can be made, you must first confirm you registered to vote.
